Matteo Cardelli To Make North American Solo Recital Debut at Sparkill Salon Concerts
One of the winners of the 2014 Ferrara International Piano Festival, Italian pianist Matteo Cardelli, has been invited to give a solo piano recital on February 27th at the prestigious Union Arts Center in Sparkill, NY. The concert is co-sponsored by Ferrara Piano Festival and the Soiree Society of The Arts, and it will be presented thanks to a travel scholarship offered by Ferrara Piano Festival.
Sparkill Salon Concerts is a concert series with a long tradition of offering top-quality concerts in beautiful concert spaces just north of New York City.
The series began in 1982 as the St. Paul’s Festival of the Arts, where it presented concerts for over 25 years at St. Paul’s Church in Nyack under the direction of its founder, Bill Hargrove, a pianist and graduate of The Juilliard School. In 2007, Hargrove appointed Yashar Yaslowitz as artistic director, and the series relocated to The Nyack Library in January of 2008, where it presented over 500 jazz and classical concerts. In June 2009, the series was renamed to the Carnegie Concert Series, after The Carnegie Room at The Nyack Library.
In September 2015, the series found a new home at the Union Arts Center. Its yearly schedule of concerts presents major jazz and classical artists, and has featured cycles of the complete piano works by Chopin, Debussy, Brahms, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff. The series has been described by the press as “an extraordinarily intimate setting for piano or chamber music” (Huffington Post) and as “One of the most enjoyable concert series in New York..” (Vanity Fair).
